Struggling to Find New Content? – Dan Guillermo

Struggling to Find New Content?

By Dan Guillermo | Driving with Dan

Driving with Dan Episode 5

I admit that I have on many occasions struggled trying to find content to write about on my blog or to talk about on my videos.

In this episode of Driving with Dan, I talk about my struggles coming up with content for my blog and video channel. I find my self on many occasions staring into space thinking to myself…”What the should I write about today”.

When you are an internet marketer, specifically a content marketer you have to come up with good, interesting and relevant content.  It would not be useful to just talk about anything because no one will care.  The point of content marketing is to help others learn what you know, if that material is boring or irrelevant you won't get through to anyone.

I will review some of the methods I use to come up with content ideas.  Some of these methods include:

Topics I am researching – I figure if I am looking for certain information, then others will probably want to know it too.

Borrow – I don't mean steal! I consume a lot of content from other marketers.  This includes articles, social media posts, forums and podcasts.  Pay attention to what topics are trending, then you should share your own ideas on the topic.

Personal experiences – Talk about yourself, your experiences, what is working for you and what isn't.  People want to get to know you

I hope you find this video helpful and I would love to hear what methods you are using to come up with fresh content for your platform.

    Hi Dan,

My last blog I struggled with coming up with content to write. My new blog, don’t struggle with this anymore. I love writing my content in advance.

Right now I have enough content scheduled to post through June. This seems to work for me because then I don’t have to stress that I need to write something in advance.

Plus it gives me the freedom to spend time on promotion and other things that need to be done. So I love it and will always make sure that I always have fresh content ready to post. It’s just easier for me 🙂

Maybe you can try that and see if it helps you out. If it does, let me know.

Have a great day and thanks for sharing.

    • Thanks Susan,
That is actually a great idea. Having the content written in advance would really free me up to get more done. That is impressive that you have over 2 months of content ready to go.

      Thanks for stopping by.

  • Hi Dan,

Way cool lead in to your video 😉

    Super points here.

I dig working personal stories into posts – both my blogging and travel themed creations – because we all have so many stories to call upon, and personal experiences tend to resonate with individuals. Our stories resonate with folks on so many levels. Some relate with our experiences, other folks can live vicariously through our experience.

The key is to link the story with our niche of choice to create continuity and to remain true to our niche.

The practice of writing at least 1,000 words daily for many years also helped me to write regularly and to keep those content ideas flowing.

Meditating and heightening my powers of observation also keep me kinda creative, so I can guest post and post to BFP regularly.

Keep on driving bro 😉 Love this idea.

    Thanks for sharing.

    Hi Dan,

I have encountered this horrific situation in which I find myself constantly stuck, and struggling to find new contents to publish on my blog.

However, what works best for me in terms of writing contents that will rank very well on Google is to look out for my competitors and study what is ranking very well for their blogs.

After this, I sit down, make more research about the topic, get more resources, then sit down to write a comprehensive post with fact finding information to back up my claims and suggestions/solutions.

Another basic idea I use is to search trending posts on social media and then come up with a solid posts on it.

    Thanks for this awesome topic.

    Much Cheers

  • Hey Dan,

Worth reading it. This situation is very common in me, as most fo the times i found myself stuck trying to find the new content or I would say ideas for content, but eventually as I love to read, I get ideas, so my reading habits help me solve this issue of getting stuck while creating new content.

I think creating unique content is the most difficult task to do. For content writers, writing contents every day and also turning it out into a fresh and unique one is not an easy task to do. As, unique contents are most appreciated by readers, so all content writers definitely make it an aim to make their contents as fresh as possible. I like reading your post and yes, it is definitely very helpful for all the content writers. Thanks for the update!!
